Opportunities at the Fitz
Fitz Open Days are back!
From free space hire and submissions meetings to affordable headshots and a buzzing networking night, we’ve packed the week with opportunities to create, connect, and get inspired. Whether you're diving into a project or just dropping by, there’s something here for everyone.
Networking Night
Join us upstairs in the Bistro at the Old Fitzroy Hotel on Monday 18 August, 6-8pm, for a relaxed evening of networking. It’s the perfect chance for artists, collaborators, and project leads to meet, chat, and spark ideas.
You’ll also have the opportunity to speak with Artistic Director Lucy Clements, Executive Producer Emma Wright, and Assistant Producer Izzy Williams, who’ll be on hand to answer any questions about submissions for the 2026 season.
PLEASE NOTE: the Bistro is only accessible via stairs. If you have any accessibility questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to us at info@oldfitztheatre.com.au
Free Space Hire
Need time and space to get pitch-ready?
We’re offering 2 days of free space hire at the Fitz – with six 2-hour slots available for artists and groups to workshop, rehearse, or simply hear their ideas aloud before submitting for our 2026 season.
Whether you're gathering around the table or getting scenes on their feet, this is a chance to develop your project in the very space you hope to stage it.
PLEASE NOTE: to keep things fair, only one slot per project/group is allowed. With just six spots available, we want to ensure this opportunity reaches as many artists as possible.
Affordable Headshots
This August, the Old Fitz Theatre is hosting 2 days of affordable headshot sessions for creatives across all disciplines, designed to support artists and raise vital funds for our 2025 operations.
Over 12 hours, we’re offering 34x 15-minute sessions with the brilliant Keelan Gooden, who’ll be photographing artists in a studio set-up in the theatre.
Sessions are priced at $65 full price and $45 for students. Whether you’re updating your portfolio or finally getting your first headshot, this is a chance to get it done without breaking the bank.
How it works:
- You bring your own SD card
- We provide the photographer, backdrop, and lighting
- 15 minutes with Keelan = a bunch of high-quality images
- One outfit change is welcome (time-permitting)
- If you’ve purchased an Edited Photo Pack, we’ll save the images for you and return your card at the end
Sign up to the Old Fitz Theatre's Artist Database
Accessibility and transparency of opportunities is at the forefront of our minds when it comes to all things Fitz. As a result, we’ve launched the Old Fitz Theatre's Artist Database - a place for artists to have their work seen by teams who present work at the Fitz. The aim of this is to make it possible for a larger pool of artists to be considered for opportunities, and for teams to have a larger pool of talent to draw from to cast and crew their shows.
Join us at SCRIPTS UPSTAIRS
Come and see what the Old Fitz Theatre has on offer at Scripts Upstairs from 12PM to 4PM on select Mondays. This exciting initiative gives you the chance to read through the scripts from our upcoming Acts and explore the roles available for application.
Join us at the Old Fitzroy Hotel's upstairs bistro where Assistant Producer Izzy Williams will be on hand to answer your questions and guide you through the process. Whether you're a seasoned creative or just starting out, this is your opportunity to dive into the scripts, enjoy the atmosphere, and even grab a drink while you’re at it! No pressure, just a relaxed Monday afternoon of scripts, stories, and possibilities.
