A TRANSGENDER WOMAN ON THE INTERNET, CRYING

by Cassie Hamilton

Directed by Jean Tong

Presented by Green Door

Avis O’Hara knows she’s the right kind of trans… so why does it feel so wrong?

  • A WORLD PREMIERE

Avis O’Hara (@theDIYDoll) is the most fabulous and famous trans influencer on the internet. Cutting-edge, left-tube vlogger Corrin Verbeck has had enough. Determined to expose Avis as a comphet, bio-essentialist, TERF-lite traitor, Corrin pretends to befriend her – but the plan backfires spectacularly… when Corrin falls in love.

This hilarious and unexpected lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers odyssey is a hyperpop musical about what it means to be the “right kind of trans”.

Following acclaimed concert presentations at Adelaide Cabaret Festival and the Hayes Festival of New Work, A Transgender Woman on the Internet, Crying arrives kicking and dancing as a full production. Don’t miss this fierce, funny and poignant exploration of identity, community and the transformative power of the trans community.

This system means prices increase in line with audience demand (determined by capacity targets), and ensures we are able to provide cheaper tickets for a period whilst also making sure artists - who are often contracted on a profit share basis - get paid. In the interest of full transparency, the structure of the model can be viewed in full on our Welcome page. Concession tickets will never exceed $60.50, and previews and Cheap Tuesday’s will be capped at $38.50 and will not scale.
