New Ghosts Theatre Company presents

BORN ON A THURSDAY

Written by Jack Kearney

Directed by Lucy Clements

A WORLD PREMIERE

“We’re not the bad things that happen to us. We are - in spite of those things. And sometimes because of them.”

After years abroad, April returns to her family home in Western Sydney to a brother irrevocably changed and a mother unyieldingly the same. What begins as a strained homecoming slowly unravels into a desperate reckoning with memory, guilt, and the crippling weight of things left unsaid.

Set across four seasons, Born on a Thursday is a searing new Australian play about the ache of family ties, the long shadow of trauma, and the strange, persistent shape of unconditional love. It’s a nod to the toughness and beauty of an ordinary life; to rugby league and kidney beans and the rareness of a well-fitting pair of jeans; to both the power and limitation of learning to get on with things.

Delivered through characters that will stay with you long after you leave the theatre, this is a story about coming home - not in triumph, but with trembling hands.
