DON’T PANIC! (IT’S HAPPENED BEFORE)

Written by Sam Bowden

Directed by Artie Gallagher

“It’s all gonna be ok. Even if we aren’t.”

Julius Caesar staged a coup when they wouldn’t re-elect him. People thought the black plague was a Jewish conspiracy theory against personal freedoms. Europeans blamed the newly installed telephone poles for giving them the Spanish flu. The first gender-affirming surgery was performed in Berlin in 1930 before… well, you know how that one ended up. Any of these sounding familiar?

This is a show about how history repeats itself and, whether you like it or not, we’re all trapped on the hamster wheel, destined to cock it up again and again and again. But don’t let it get you down! This isn’t doom porn, and we’re all in this together. It’s all going to be ok, even if we aren’t.

So don’t panic, it’s happened before.

★★★★ “Bowden’s impressive storytelling skills and clear passion for the topic deliver an incredibly enjoyable experience… [it’s] hard not to be inspired by. This show is expertly constructed and will stick with you.” - Funny Tonne | “When someone is this good, one hour is not enough!” - Brisbane Stage | “Unusually ambitious and well crafted… surprisingly optimistic and plenty of laughs.” - SMH
